Latchkey Design is a new venture started by, former video editor, comic shop owner and comic art collector, Chris Abel. Chris owned and operated Genesis Comics in Houston, TX from 1995 until mid-2000, where he was behind an early viral website called The Swipe of the Week. He moved to Los Angeles in late 2000, to work in the film industry.

Chris moved back to Texas in 2020 and exited the film industry in early 2021. He started our sister site, Abel Original Art in 2021 with the idea of also selling comic-related t-shirts licensed from independent comic artists and those of his own design. Starting in late 2024, Chris began creating t-shirt designs around pop culture. Latchkey Design is the result. Our designs feature Generation X, Millennial and Gen Z along with pop culture references.
